Marketing Strategy
I like to describe a marketing strategy as a map to get your business from A to B and push it to the next level. The business sets its own goals and objectives and the marketing strategy helps your business achieve them on a direct vs scenic route!
Why a business needs a marketing strategy
- Maximise the business opportunity and profit
- Grow and push the business forward
- Generate more sales / customers / leads
- Stop competitors getting stronger and overtaking
- Avoid wasting time and money on the wrong activity
- Have a cohesive approach which the whole team is working towards
- Have clear priorities with financial metrics in mind
- Ensure all marketing activity is aligned to goals and objectives
What does a marketing strategy include?
- Market & business overview
- Competitor analysis
- Financial metrics for return on investment
- Aims and objectives
- Target market & segmentation
- Positioning and messaging
- Marketing activity recommendations
- Website review
- Keyword research
- 6-month marketing plan (once marketing strategy is agreed)
The marketing strategy is the map, but a business needs someone to navigate. This can be someone /team within the organisation or if you don’t have the in-house resource, I can work with you to implement the marketing plan or mentor a junior in-house marketing resource.
Marketing strategy approach
- Discovery session – face to face/remote 1 day meeting to understand more about your business and what you are looking to achieve.
- Research & analysis – I look into the market, customers, competitors and identify opportunities in priority.
- Report & follow up – marketing strategy report delivered. I allow time for you and team to digest the information within the report. Arrange follow up call.
- Marketing plan – decision of who to implement the marketing activity – in house, by me or combination of both.

Marketing Audit
Ideal for businesses who are investing in marketing, but asking the following questions:
- Is our current marketing working?
- Could there be better alternative options for our marketing investment?
- How is it best to measure our marketing activity?
- How could we improve our marketing activity?
- Is our current marketing looking a bit tired?
With so many options for marketing – social media, email marketing, events or SEO it’s hard to know what to do for the best for the company. This audit helps businesses refresh their marketing by ensuring their investment is aimed at the right activity and not wasting time, resource and investment. The report includes a list of marketing recommendations with clarity, priority and costs.
Why a business needs a marketing audit
- To avoid wasting investment and time on the wrong marketing activity
- Save money by focusing on marketing activity which delivers best ROI
- To maximise the marketing investment and opportunity
- To create a company wide marketing vision and plan
- To align all marketing messaging across all activity
- Ensure measurement is in place to understand impact of marketing investment
- To know your marketing is on the right track
What does a marketing audit include?
A review of the positives and action points for the business’ key areas: products/services, customers, competition and current marketing activity.
Recommendations for positioning, practicalities and marketing activity (in priority and with associated costs)
Marketing Audit approach
- Discovery Session – face to face/remote 1/2 day meeting to understand more about your current marketing and future objectives.
- Research & Analysis – determine the positives and action points by key area and list recommendations.
- Report & follow up – marketing audit report delivered. This is an actionable report ready to super charge your marketing.
- Take action – does the business have the right resource to implement the marketing? Need some mentoring for in-house resource? Need additional marketing support to implement or for guidance? Or perhaps need to recruit additional in-house resource?
